women's work...

of late i have been thinking about the rich embroidery and lace-making traditions in norway and this piece came about as a result. i like the combination of the playful, childlike drawing and bright colors with the more sophisticated embossed white work:

i've also been working on another drawing, but don't have the final version yet - just needs a few tweaks. it will be close to this, though - just some lines i want to fix in the upper left...

i've been trying everything matted and framed and had hoped to finish last week, but some of the mats didn't come out right, so we had to order more. the good thing about that is that i've had a bit more time to be absolutely sure of the pieces i want to put in the show. the bad thing is... i've had a been more time and am driving myself nuts because i keep doing new work!
