healing...

the emotion behind this quilt has been with me for quite a while.

all of us put on a brave face. all of us have screams that no one can hear.

how do we heal if we don't share the terror/s that hold us hostage?

veteran's day, and reflecting on all that my fellow veterans have gone through (and are go through even as i write this) has stirred me...and so, today's quilt:

they said she was brave
she showed her fear to no one
there were no screams left

may you open your heart to someone close. may you heal.

  1. I had to pause while reading this and swallow the lump in my throat. This is probably the most evocative stitchery I have ever seen. Thank you.

  2. I'm touched by your response, Penny. As much as we share the joy of the human condition, it's important to acknowledge the pain, too, isn't it? I don't think we can fully embrace the former without the latter... Both inform who we are.

  3. Often the pain serves to make the 'good' that much better (or at least appreciated more). I think its always good to acknowledge the pain -- for many times its a way of recognizing our humanity.
