welcoming spring...

the days have started warming, little leaves are unfurling their bright greenness, and even though we are being warned of a possible freeze tonight, i'm optimistic that the warmth will quickly return.

i've been busy in the studio answering "calls for entries" and making new work. today brought this new piece, just completed:

Awakening After a Long Sleep. textile painting. 15.5" x 15.5" x 1.5"

stretched canvas, cotton, linen, fusible web, machine stitching, hand embroidery with perle cotton.

it really does feel like spring has pulled back the covers and that the long night of winter is finally ending.

time to yawn and stretch and welcome the spring!
