collaged paintings...

i've started a series of paintings that use pieces of discarded student oil-on-canvas paintings i've been collecting. the paintings were pretty bad to say the least, which is why they were discarded, but there are areas in some that have wonderful color and texture that have been begging me to use them in some way.

i cut the pieces and arrange them on a deep canvas that i've painted first. this painting has a gloss finish to seal and protect it:

this painting is 12"tall x 4" wide x 1.5"deep.

i like the moodiness of it.

and i like that something discarded has been totally transformed into something that gives me pleasure.
